SF Sightseeing

This entry was originally published at Clarence Harvey Photography.

How many people actually go do touristy stuff near where they live? I certainly don't. There's so much cool stuff 30 - hour minutes drive from here. You've got SF, wine country, redwood forests, and beaches galore. I LOOVE California. I don't normally go sightseeing in my own backyard (and trust me I should do it more often), but one of my friends was back in town and she brought her roommate from Alaska to visit. Exciting exciting. Her first time in Nor-Cal, so we all decided that we should go sightseeing. First up was Golden Gate Park. We went to see the Japanese tea garden (which wasn't packed because it was a weekday) and the De Young (oh academy of sciences, you're too expensive... lower your prices a little? haha). Then a little trip to the ferry building, embarcadero center and the stuff around. What a fun day it was! Full of laughs, art, culture and of course... fun. hahaha. Well on to the pictorals! The little chinese pagoda by Lake Stow dsc_2372 hahah I couldn't resist! I was walking through the Japanese tea garden, saw this frame, saw the color of her cardigan... told her to go sit on the bench. ahaha. dsc_2386 Cherry blossoms blossoming! heart! dsc_2388 dsc_2393 dsc_2396 dsc_2407 These were two really awesome walls on the DeYoung. dsc_2409 dsc_2410 At the DeYoung, the main attraction was the florist interpretations of art pieces. It was pretty freaking awesome. I've never been to the deYoung before so I don't know if this multicolored flower thing hanging above the lobby is a new thing or not. dsc_2414 dsc_2425 dsc_2426 Florist interpretation in front of the art piece. freaking awesome!!! dsc_2436 dsc_2439dsc_2454 dsc_2444 dsc_2468 dsc_2481 Now these are some random floral art. dsc_2440 dsc_2446 dsc_2447 This reminds me of a Bug's Life. It was kinda like the bird that the ants made. dsc_2460 dsc_2477 They had some Chihuly pieces still in the museum. dsc_2451 dsc_2429 There was also a Yves Saint Laurent exhibit. I couldn't take any pictures but it had some of this clothing pieces throughout his career. I liked this quote they painted on the wall and I got in trouble taking a picture of the quote. haha Whooooopps. dsc_2492 And then some scary stuff too... dsc_2484 Now two pictures to finalize the post. Embarcadero Center and the bow and arrow. dsc_2506 dsc_2502
